Summer 2026 Filming Opportunity
FDC is honored to be able to offer TWO different opportunities to be a part of a dance film this summer. After an overwhelming number of choreographer submissions we have narrowed it down to the two below.
Learn more about their background and vision for their piece & sign up to audition below!
Katie Kirkpatrick | Adios
Contemporary
Rehearsals July 28th, August 4th, and August 11th at Boston University Fitness and Recreation Center from 7:00 – 8:30 PM
Filming : August 29th
Katie grew up in Houston, TX, training in contemporary, jazz, tap, musical theater, ballet, and pointe since age 5. She performed and choreographed extensively with Rice University’s contemporary company, Rice Dance Theatre, creating 15 pieces across multiple styles and serving as Company President her final year. While earning her Master’s in the Netherlands, she trained and performed with Oxygen Academy of Dance and co-created contemporary showcases at Dans Atelier Maastricht. Katie is excited to continue exploring performance and choreography opportunities in the Boston dance community.
About her piece…..
“The piece explores the transition into adulthood and accepting the consequences of your choices. Inspired by the song’s themes, the dance reflects the struggle to let go of childhood innocence while navigating the weight of adult decisions. The red gloves symbolize the idea of “blood on your hands,” but ultimately being cast away in defiance—rejecting the belief that success and fulfillment must come at the cost of hurting others. At its core, the work centers on autonomy and the idea that “the decision is mine.”

dancer auditions
Virtual (opening up 5/23)
Auditions
Dancers interested in participating in the Summer Films should register for auditions through our ticketing platform, SimpleTix (linked below). During registration, dancers will be guided through a Google Form on what is required to be uploaded and submitted for the virtual audition.
Registration will close on Friday June 12th at 11:59PM. We recommend registering as soon as possible to allow ample time to complete the process.
Please upload videos where you are EASILY identifiable and pertains to what the choreographer’s style is
Constraints
Dancers are eligible to be in BOTH summer films. Being in both films still only requires one summer membership of $75.
Results
Results will be calculated using FDC’s proprietary algorithm. We believe using technology to match dancers and choreographers is an important step to guarantee accuracy and eliminate board involvement. Choreographers will have the opportunity to review their cast lists before final audition results are publicized. Once final results are announced, all dancers cast will need to register as Summer Class Member to participate. Read more about what’s included in our membership offerings here.
Previous Summer 2025 Film
Midnight Oil represents the effects of burn out in the corporate workplace and the struggle to find purpose and balance in a high pressure environment. The piece explores going through the motions of everyday tasks to crashing out when the pressure is at its peak, but ultimately getting back on the hamster wheel to finish what you’ve started.
Ally is incredibly humbled by her cast of 27 talented dancers and is grateful to continue her working partnership with Derek Taylor, videographer & co-editor of both her films.
