Choreographer Expectations
Once casted, choreographers will be expected to foster a welcoming environment and encourage the growth of FDC’s community. Rehearsals must be run efficiently to maximize success. Those that wish to dance in the show will need to audition and register as a dancer. FDC prides itself on valuing the time and artistry of its choreographers, and therefore, we will profit share the show with our choreographers.

Studio 414
📍551 Tremont St, Boston, MA 02116
Registration
Dancers interested in joining us should register for auditions through our ticketing platform, SimpleTix (linked below). The registration fee will be $35, fees included. During registration, dancers will select their audition number as part of check out.
Registration will close on Thursday 2/5 at noon. We recommend registering as soon as possible to allow ample time to complete the following process.
Dance Selection Form
Upon registering, dancers can find the link to the virtual choreographer showcase and Dance Selection Form in their SimpleTix confirmation email. The virtual showcase will feature video snippets of each piece and a blurb from the choreographer with their bio and vision. After reviewing, dancers must complete the Dance Selection Form. The SimpleTix confirmation email will also include a “How To” document to assist with understanding how to best complete the form. The Dance Selection Form will ask dancers to rank the pieces you would like to audition for in order of most desired to least. You will also answer questions about your preferred schedule, including the maximum number of pieces you’d like to be cast in, the maximum number of nights per week you’d like to rehearse, etc.
Dance Selection Forms will be due on Thursday 2/5 at 11:59 pm.
Video Auditions
We will also be accepting video auditions for anyone unable to join us in person on audition day. Dancers will note their intent to video audition during registration and will receive a separate email from the Board with video audition instructions following their registration. Please allow up to 24 hours to receive this email.
Video auditions will be due along with Dance Selection Forms on Thursday 2/5 at 11:59 pm.
Constraints
Dancers are eligible to be in a maximum of 5 pieces in the show. However, in order to be cast in more than 3 pieces, dancers must acknowledge they are open to having quick changes in the showcase. Given the show consists of only 13 FDC pieces, the possibility of having a quick change is increased the more pieces a dancer is in. Consider that only dancing one night will allow the dancer to be in four pieces given the rotating bi-weekly schedule.
What to Expect
Audition day will run from 9 am to 1:30 pm with the following schedule. Each round has been assigned to one of two genres: Contemporary/Jazz (identified in orange) or Hip Hop (identified in blue). Each piece in the show has been assigned one of these genres and each choreographer will watch all rounds in their assigned genre. Dancers may audition for one or both genres. However, dancers can only be considered for a piece if they participated in every round of its respective genre. All combos will be taught day of – dancers do not need to prepare choreography in advance.
- Group warm-up
- Hip Hop combo round
- Across the floor round
- Contemporary combo round
Results
Results will be calculated using FDC’s proprietary algorithm. We believe using technology to match dancers and choreographers is an important step to guarantee accuracy and eliminate board involvement. Choreographers will have the opportunity to review their cast lists before final audition results are publicized. Once final results are announced, all dancers cast in at least one piece will need to register as Season 3 Performance Members to participate.
